Can't quite believe I'm asking this question but there is a reason I promise!!
This year I decided that I would take my passion for all things handmade and hand crafted one step further and I thought I would dedicate any spare time I have to handmade Christmas presents!! I will be going beyond handmade necklaces, handmade earrings and handmade bracelets and looking to do a lot more!!
Am I mad...... yes!!
There are some amazing handcrafted pieces out there and as we get closer to Christmas we see all of these wonderful TV programmes... Kristy's Homemade Christmas being one of my favourites. They stir up some creative passion and I really want to get out there shopping for craft goodies and handmake lots of wonderful gifts and decorations.
The problem is time!!
As always the Christmas rush is on and I am up to my eyes working on handmade necklaces and bracelets, earrings for stocking fillers and gift vouchers for those who just don't know as well as handmade cards and trinkets. I always manage to be working on a tiara or vintage inspired piece for those lucky brides who opt for a snowy white wedding and get married in December. I swap Christmas nights out for Christmas nights in crafting jewellery and working hard on parties too so I never have time to put all this inspiration into action.
Luckily I have some wonderful market towns around me which have saved me in the past with all my Christmas shopping needs!!
A stone throw away from the village I live in I have Mold, Flintshire and this is a beautiful village with an abundance of beautiful shops and a market twice a week. If I am ever looking to go a little further I can always find a good days shopping in Wrexham, Chester, Broughton all of which have a fab selection of shops!!
If I'm feeling a bit too lazy to head off out shopping then my fingers are always willing to shop online and I find myself typing 'handmade Christmas gifts' into Google or simply just browsing the wonders of http:www.folksy.co.uk handmade heaven!!
Its hard to believe that this year when everyone is just starting to think of beginning their Christmas shopping I should hopefully be done.....all going to plan my complete range or nearly complete range of handmade gifts for each member of my family, friends and work colleagues.
So as I sit working through my designs for my new collection of wedding and bridal bouquets from button bouquets to pom pom bouquets and beaded flowers to feather butterflies (if you haven't seen them already go take a peek http://www.sljewelleryandaccessories.co.uk/ourshop/cat_403227-Wedding-Bouquets.html ) I will also be letting my mind wander into Christmas and new crafts and coming up with some unique gifts and unique handmade goodies! Of course I couldn't let Christmas pass without making some hand crafted earrings, handcrafted necklaces and handcrafted bracelets for those special girls in my life!!
Well wish me luck!! I think I'm going to need it but I am looking forward to working on my handmade Christmas and sharing the ideas with you all!!
If you have any ideas please share I need all the help i can get :o)
